Zac and I have prayed and sought the Lord's will in the decision to homeschool for about 5 years now and have both felt Him leading us to keep them home and train them up in His ways and build a firm foundation rooted DEEP in His Word! What a HUGE task that He has called us to, but man are we humbled and grateful for the opportunity,we only have one life with them and we want to enjoy every bit of it and be the best stewards of what God has blessed us with, HIS children! I have gone through lots of emotions...fear, joy, peace, feeling of inadequacy, confidence, I think everything you could think of, I have dealt with it..lol! BUT, I know that God has laid this out before me and I know that He has and will continue to equip me, I just have to remind myself of that daily! Jeremiah 29:11 plays in my head constantly when doubt or fear tries to set in....NO SIR SATAN..BACK OFF!! ;) Overall, we have been so excited about this day for a while now and it finally came!! The first day of school!!! Aaahhh! How did it go? Well....it was great! We had a special chocolate chip pancake breakfast and then jumped right in! Was it what I had pictured it would be? NO...haha! We had some PRECIOUS moments, Ayden did so great with the work he did and is SO smart! Cate learns REALLY fast! It little chaotic though, with Baby C crawling around grabbing everything we tried to do on the floor and pulling the numbers off of the calendar and crying and pooping! lol! Cate was interested 1/2 of the time and stopped a few times to talk on her calculator and teach her babydoll! Ayden had fun, but wanted to be done sooner than I was ready.Ha! At times, I thought...woah! What am I doing?! I had some doubts setting in and once again I had to remind myself of what God has called me to do! We called it a day after about and hour and a half! Then the 2nd day came...hmmm...lets just say we didn't finish! Half way through I said "We're done!" haha! Ayden was bored and wanting to be done after about 30 min...Cate was not interested at all and Baby C was unusually fussy! In the moment, I felt like a failure and really discouraged! The Lord loves me so much that He sent my friends Tricia, Joei and Cade over for a surprise visit! They came with many words of encouragement!! I needed that! I went to my friend Karries after that and spent the afternoon picking her brain and getting ideas and more encouragement! Zac and I went to the ACHE (Ada Christian Home Educators) meeting and talked with lots of great parents who have done this before!! Thank you Jesus for friends and inspirations!! I came home to a little girl writing the letter A on the dry erase and a little boy singing his hip hop ABC song...WOW..they were listening!! Thanks God for that little bit of "Atta girl" "You've got this"!!! I have come to some conclusions today, which I am sure I will come to many more as this is just the end of the 2nd day of school..haha...Ayden has a learning style that I will need to adapt to and have a TON of fun with and break up into short segments,my sweet active boy....and Cate is only 3 and really doesn't start Pre-K until next year and so I will have things available for her when she is interested and when she is not...have fun playing baby girl...and Baby C, well we will just do school during his nap time, thats the beauty of homeschool! We will have a year that is full of fun, play and learning and mommy is gonna chill out and enjoy every minute with these babies! Oh and if we are having a rough day...close those books and go outside and play!!!
I am going to write what they want to be when they grow up and measure them every year! It will be fun to see how things change as they grow up!
Finished the day off with lunch on the trampoline and a fun game of "dead man, dead man, come alive"!
Praying for you all as you enjoy your babies and teach them well! Thanks for sharing your lives this way. We are looking forward to each post. Love all of the pics! God bless the 5 of you! Love in Christ, Rob and Kathy
